How to Decorate your bar like an Irish pub
Why not create your Irish pub if you love to spend time in the local Irish pub? If you have your bar with Irish décor, you won’t need to leave the house to enjoy an Irish pub.
Irish pubs are slightly different from English, British, and Irish pubs despite their similar aesthetics.
The Bar
A bar is a must-have in any Irish pub. It is the hub of activity and the focal point for your entire setup. Your home bar will not look Irish if you make a mistake.
For an authentic look, choose a well-aged wooden bar. The older, the better. A second-hand bar with chairs is the best option. You can find them in a salvage yard or an antique shop. If you cannot find a used bar, a wooden counter can be substituted.
Irish pubs have dark stained wooden furniture, just like traditional English pubs. You can also make your bar stools more comfortable by adding green leather to them.
You can buy a brand new bar set and age it artificially if you cannot find one used. You can give new bar stools and stools a worn look by roughing up the surface and hitting it with a heavy metal chain. Finish the look by applying a dark finish to the wood.
What would an Irish bar be without beer? If you’re not planning to use the keg, a tap and keg with an Irish Brew logo will look more authentic.
Irish Pub Decor
Cover the walls behind your bar with dark wood painted to match the finish of the bar and stools. Install shelves and soft lighting strips in order to showcase prominent Irish whiskeys and liquors that are available in glass bottles.
Irish pubs are known for their green ceilings and walls. Green is a great color to paint the walls of the pub. It’s not just a compliment for the dark wood. The color green is associated with the Great Irish Rebellion of 1641 and other political events that took place in Ireland.
To complete your Irish bar, add short whiskey glasses featuring the logos of the Irish alcohol brands you love. A wooden sign can be purchased or custom-made for your bar. Decorate the walls of your bar and surrounding areas with old photos of Irish people or places that you love. Hang an old Irish street sign if you can.
Random antiques, such as old farm tools and metal signs, are also common in Irish pubs. These items will complete your Irish look.
